Brooklyn City Blues

I’m really into Jennie C. Jones right now. She’s a native Brooklynite who won the Studio Museum’s Wein Prize earlier this year. And her prints are sort of affordable. You can purchase them on Artspace.

Check out Ghada Amer’s awesome interview on Artsy/The Huffington Post. They did a great job of capturing the look and feel of her studio. Always good vibes when I go there.

Have you seen James Turrell at the Guggenheim? This dude is awesome. I’m going to go check it out this weekend. He is best known for his work in an Arizona crater that he turned into a makeshift observatory. I find his use of light and space so aesthetically appealing and well, cool. If you’ve seen the show let me know what you thought, and if you haven’t click here for more info if you’re interested in checking it out. It will be on view through September.

I have become an orchid
washed in on the salt white beach.
Memory,
what can I make of it now
that might please you—
this life, already wasted
and still strewn with
miracles?

Guess who’s going to be at Pace Prints… Helen Frankenthaler! I just mentioned how I was disappointed to have missed her at the Gagosian. I’m definitely not missing this one!
Her work is there through May 24th. Click here for more info.
